This is a decrease from 2021's 386,000 metric tons, although demand has been on the rise since 2017, with a 7.7% year-on-year increase. Portugal was ranked 43rd in 2021, with Mozambique in first place with 386,000 metric tons. India, the United States and Egypt were the next three countries in the ranking. Portuguese tomato production is forecast to rise 0.8% year-on-year CAGR to 1.63 million metric tons by 2026. This is an increase from 2021's 1.56 million metric tons, even though production has been declining since 1966 at a rate of 1.7% year-on-year. Portugal came in 15th in this ranking in 2021, with Uzbekistan in the lead with 1.56 million metric tons. India, the United States and Egypt were the next three countries in the ranking.
