Romanian tomato consumption is set to reach nearly one million metric tons by 2026, according to a recent report. In 2021, Romania ranked 20th, with 937 thousand metric tons consumed, narrowly behind Tunisia. India, the United States and Egypt respectively came in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. Meanwhile, Romanian tomato production is set to suffer a significant decline. By 2026, it is estimated to reach 272 thousand metric tons, down from 401 thousand metric tons in 2021. This marks a 6.5% year-on-year CAGR drop since 1966. In 2021, Romania was ranked 46th, with Ghana ahead of it at 401 thousand metric tons. India, the United States and Egypt placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.
