Malaysia is set to consume 183,000 metric tons of tomatoes by 2026, up 1.1% from 170,000 in 2021. Since 2017, demand for tomatoes has been rising 1.2% annually. In 2021, Malaysia was ranked 64th in the world, behind Hungary at 170,000 metric tons. India, the US and Egypt were the top three tomato-consuming nations. Meanwhile, tomato production in Malaysia is projected to reach 226,630 metric tons by 2026, a 2.1% year-on-year average increase. Since 1966, however, supply has decreased 3.8% annually. Malaysia was ranked 63rd in 2021, behind Peru at 200,080 metric tons. India, the US and Egypt were again the top three tomato-producing countries.
