Armenian tomato consumption is projected to drop to 24,000 metric tons by 2026, a 21.6% decrease compared to 2021. From 2017 to 2021, demand for Armenian tomatoes declined by 3.7% annually. In 2021, Armenia was ranked 81st; Sri Lanka was ahead with 92,000 metric tons consumed. India, the US and Egypt came in second, third and fourth, respectively. Meanwhile, Armenian tomato production is estimated to reach 94,020 metric tons by 2026, a 6.8% decrease compared to 2021. Since 1997, tomato production in Armenia has decreased by 13.9% every year. In 2021, Armenia was 69th in the world rankings; Senegal was ahead with 140,770 metric tons produced. India, the US and Egypt were ranked second, third and fourth, respectively.
