Argentina is set to import $171 million of zinc by 2026, with an average annual growth rate of 4%. Since 1998, Argentinian demand for zinc has increased by 10% annually. In 2021, Argentina ranked 24th in the world for zinc imports, with Romania ahead of them at $135.3 million. The United States, Germany and Belgium followed in second, third and fourth place. In 2018, Argentina exported just $33 million of zinc, down 99.6% from the previous year. Since 1998, the country has seen a 71% decrease in zinc exports. In 2018, Argentina was 100th in the world for zinc exports, with Guyana ahead of them at $33 million. Belgium, Canada and Australia came in second, third and fourth place.
