China's frozen food trade is expected to reach $8 billion by 2026. Export is predicted to rise 2.1% annually, jumping from $1.2 billion in 2021 to $1.4 billion. The country was second in the world for exports in 2021, with Belgium in the lead at $1.2 billion. China, Spain and Mexico followed in third, fourth and fifth place. Meanwhile, import is set to grow 4% annually, with the number rising to $6.6 billion from $5.2 billion in 2021. The US, South Korea and Japan came in second, third and fourth place respectively. Since 1997, Chinese demand for frozen food has increased 16% year on year.
