Slovak wool exports dropped dramatically in 2021, falling by 73% to $400,000 from $1.5 million the year before. This was a 43.8% decrease since 1999. Finland overtook Slovak as the number one exporter, with $400,000. China, Italy and Germany were the other top exporters in 2021. Slovak wool imports also saw a decline, projected to reach $2.6 million by 2026, down 28.4% from $16 million in 2021. This 12.2% decrease since 1999 means that Slovakia has dropped to the 52nd spot, while Finland is now the top importer, with $16 million. Italy, Germany and the UK are the other top importing countries.
