Egyptian newspaper imports plummeted to approximately $56,000 in 2018, marking a significant 79% decrease from the prior year's $266,000. This sharp decline follows a long-term trend, with demand dropping by an average of 30% annually since 1999. On the export front, Egypt's newspaper exports also faced a steep decline. In 2018, exports totaled around $171,000, down nearly 60% from the $422,000 recorded in 2017. Over the past two decades, the country's newspaper supply has seen a modest annual decrease of 0.7%.
