In 2023, France was ranked third in newspaper publishing revenue, overtaken by the United Kingdom, which also had revenue of around €3.5 billion. The United Kingdom, France, and Spain held the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively, in this ranking. Exports of French newspapers are expected to drop to nearly $73 million by 2028, from $165 million in 2023, at an average annual decline rate of 13%. Since 1999, France's newspaper exports have been falling at an average rate of 7.9% per year. In 2023, France ranked sixth in newspaper exports, surpassed by Italy, which also had exports worth $165 million. Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States held the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively, in this category. Imports of French newspapers are forecasted to decrease to around $134 million by 2028, from $207 million in 2023, with an average annual decline rate of 6.9%. Since 1999, French demand for imported newspapers has decreased by 6.3% per year.
