Since 2004, Belgian newspaper exports have consistently fallen by the same rate. Belgium ranked seventh in newspaper exports in 2023, trailing France, which also reported $138 million. Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States held the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. Belgian newspaper imports stood at $40 million in 2023, down sharply from $54 million in 2022, representing a 26.6% decrease. Since 2004, the country's demand for imported newspapers has plummeted by nearly 20% annually.
