Ugandan newspaper imports are projected to plummet to $3,200 by 2028, a stark decline from the $124,000 registered in 2023. This represents an average annual decrease of 49.6%. Historical data shows that since 1999, the demand for newspapers in Uganda has been decreasing at an average rate of 10.1% per year. On the export front, Uganda's newspaper industry has faced significant setbacks as well. In 2018, the total value of newspaper exports was recorded at $5,500, a dramatic 67% drop from the $16,700 reported in 2017. Over a longer period, starting from 2003, the supply of Ugandan newspapers for export has consistently fallen by an average of 11.3% each year.
