Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States secured the second, third, and fourth places, respectively, in the global ranking. On the import side, Japan's newspaper imports in 2019 stood at roughly $22.6 million, down from about $26.8 million in 2018, reflecting a 15.7% decrease compared to the previous year. Since 1993, Japanese demand for imported newspapers has declined by an average of 15.8% annually.
