Swazi Newspapers Import Set for Major Decline by 2028 MBABANE – Swazi newspapers import is projected to drop significantly over the next five years. According to recent data, imports are expected to reach approximately $347,000 by 2028, down from around $485,000 in 2023. This represents an annual decline of about 5.4%. The downward trend is not a new phenomenon. Since 2005, the demand for imported newspapers in Eswatini has been decreasing at an average rate of 4.9% per year. In contrast, the situation for Swazi newspapers export is also bleak. Exports are anticipated to be close to $11,700 in 2023, a sharp decrease from nearly $15,000 in 2022. This marks a significant 21.6% drop compared to the previous year. The long-term trend for newspaper exports from Eswatini has been even more concerning. Since 2005, the supply has been contracting at an average annual rate of 16.3%.
