Bahraini newspaper exports plummeted to approximately $1,200 in 2023, a drastic 65% decrease from the $3,300 recorded in 2022. This decline continues a troubling trend, with the country's newspaper supply decreasing by 34.6% annually since 2005. In 2023, Bahrain fell to the 66th position globally, overtaken by Azerbaijan, which also reported exports of around $1,200. Leading the rankings were Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States, holding the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively. On the import side, Bahrain's newspaper market is projected to shrink significantly. Imports are expected to drop to around $22,800 by 2028, a steep fall from the $1.1 million seen in 2023. This represents an average annual decline of 51.8%. Since 2005, the country's demand for imported newspapers has been decreasing at an average rate of 10.1% per year.
