Despite this, since 1995, the country has experienced a yearly growth rate of 0.9% in hydro power supply. Latvia maintained its 22nd global ranking in hydro power generation in 2023. Slovakia surpassed Latvia in this category as well, with a generation level of around 9,200 terajoules. The top spots were held by Sweden, France, and Italy, in that order.
