Cabo Verdean livestock production is predicted to decrease slightly over the next five years. In 2021, the country produced around 50,000 heads of livestock, down 4% from 1966 levels. This put Cabo Verde at 168th in the world rankings, behind Barbados which had 54,620 heads. Brazil, India and the United States came in second, third and fourth respectively. Similarly, Cabo Verdean livestock imports are expected to drop 1.5% per year on average over the same period. In 2021, demand was at $203,340, a decrease of 5.7% since 2002. Germany, Italy and the Netherlands were second, third and fourth in the rankings.
