Since 2000, the country's supply of food waste has increased by 0.4% each year on average. In 2021, Estonia ranked 35th in the world, just behind Luxembourg at 505,000 metric tons. China, Germany, and Japan were the top three countries in the ranking. Treatment of food waste in Estonia is also expected to reach 494,000 metric tons by 2026, up from 478,000 metric tons in 2021. This represents an increase of 0.5% each year since 2000. In 2021, Estonia placed 35th, with Luxembourg ahead at 478,000 metric tons. Germany, Japan, and Mexico took the top three spots in the ranking.
