Lithuanian food waste is set to remain unchanged through 2026. According to the latest figures, Lithuanian food waste generated is estimated to be 1,310 thousand metric tons in 2021, with no change in average rate since 2000. This puts Lithuania in 31st place, behind Costa Rica’s 1,310 thousand metric tons. China, Germany, and Japan held the top three spots in the ranking. Meanwhile, Lithuanian food waste treated is expected to decrease by 0.7% year on year CAGR to 1,100 thousand metric tons by 2026, down from 1,150 thousand metric tons in 2021. This is a 1.1% decrease in the market since 2000. Lithuania’s ranking was 31st in 2021, with Costa Rica surpassing it at 1,150 thousand metric tons. Germany, Japan, and Mexico followed in the top four spots.
