Global consumption of herbicide is expected to reach 1.03 million metric tons by 2026, up from 946,050 metric tons in 2021. This represents a growth rate of 1.3% year-on-year on average since 2016. The United States was the largest consumer of herbicides in 2021, with 312,220 metric tons. Argentina, Australia and Canada ranked second, third and fourth, respectively. Australia saw the largest growth rate since 2016, at 24.2%, while Iceland saw a decrease of 33.3%. Global export of herbicide is estimated to reach 2.77 billion kilograms by 2026, up from 2.49 billion kilograms in 2021. This translates to an average year-on-year growth rate of 1.7% since 2016. China was the largest exporter in 2021, with 1.22 billion kilograms. The United States, Belgium and France ranked second, third and fourth, respectively. Cameroon saw the highest growth rate, at 161.6%, while Switzerland saw a decrease of 55.8% since 2016.
