The year-on-year variation shows dramatic shifts, particularly between 2015 and 2016 with a 75.8% increase. However, we notice a decrease in some years, such as -19.29% in 2018. Generally, the last two years before 2024 show moderate growth rates of 4.4% in 2022 and a 6.3% increase in 2023, totaling a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 15.61% over the past five years.
Looking forward, the forecast for 2028 estimates the number of publications to reach 234.56, featuring a 4.06% CAGR from 2024 to 2028. This translates to an overall growth rate of 22% over the five-year period.
Future trends to watch include continued advances in medical research technology and potential shifts in funding priorities that could impact publication volume. Increased international collaborations and investments in scientific research are likely to contribute to this upward trajectory in ophthalmology publications in Egypt.
