European Healthcare Expenditure on Curative Care and Rehabilitative Care by Residential Long-Term Care Facilities by Country

In 2023, the Netherlands and Ireland led European healthcare expenditure on curative and rehabilitative care by long-term care facilities, each at 0.2% of GDP. Finland and Norway followed, while Belgium, Italy, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Estonia lagged behind. Year-on-year, Poland showed substantial growth at 8.45%, whereas Belgium and Italy experienced significant declines of -19.73% and -12.94%, respectively. Over five years, positive growth was noticeable in most countries, suggesting an upward trend in expenditure relative to GDP.

Future trends indicate a probable increase in healthcare spending across Europe due to aging populations and the need for enhanced long-term care facilities, especially in countries currently spending less.
