Ecuador is set to see an increase in its pulp import over the next five years. By 2026, 32,240 metric tons will be imported, rising at a year-on-year average rate of 1.7%. Since 1977, demand has grown steadily, with a 5.2% year-on-year increase. In 2021, Ecuador was the 64th largest importer, overtaken by Nigeria's 29,040 metric tons. The United States, Germany and Italy followed in the second, third, and fourth places respectively. Export of Ecuadorian pulp, however, is predicted to drop by 7.5% year-on-year on average, to 48 metric tons by 2026. Since 1997, the country's supply has decreased 16.1% year-on-year. In 2021, Ecuador was the 93rd largest exporter, with Algeria ranking higher at 54 metric tons. Canada, the United States and Chile came in the second, third, and fourth places respectively.
