Afghanistan is set to experience growth in its pulp import and export in the coming years. By 2026, its pulp imports are expected to increase to 440,000 metric tons, up from 320,000 metric tons in 2021. This represents an annual growth rate of 2.3%, an increase on the 2.1% average growth since 1998. In 2021, Afghanistan ranked 125th in the global ranking of pulp imports, as Cameroon overtook with 322 metric tons. The United States, Germany, and Italy ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively. Meanwhile, Afghanistan's pulp exports are set to reach 25,000 metric tons by 2026, compared to 23,000 metric tons in 2021. This equates to a year-on-year CAGR of 1.7%, a jump from the 3.9% year-on-year growth since 2008. The country was positioned at 111th in 2021, as Nicaragua overtook with 23 metric tons. Canada, the United States, and Chile were ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively. Overall, Afghanistan is expected to see an increase in its pulp imports and exports over the next five years.
