Poland is set to become a major player in the global pulp market. By 2026, the nation is projected to import 1.4 million metric tons of pulp, a 2.1% increase from 2021. This continual growth is a result of rising demand since 1968, when it was 3.2% year-on-year. In 2021, Japan was the top importer of pulp at 1.2 million metric tons, followed by the United States, Germany and Italy. Meanwhile, Poland's pulp exports are predicted to reach 158,500 metric tons by 2026, a 1.8% increase from 2021. Since 1973, however, the country's supply has decreased by 3.8% year-on-year. In 2021, Argentina was the top exporter of pulp at 141,690 metric tons, followed by Canada, the United States and Chile.
