Malaysia is set to become the 35th biggest importer of pulp by 2026, as demand is expected to reach 203,560 metric tons. This marks an increase of 1.1% annually, compared to the 1.9% yearly growth seen since 1972. Brazil was the biggest importer in 2021 at 181,670 metric tons, followed by the United States, Germany and Italy. Meanwhile, Malaysian pulp export is set to drop by 6.1% year on year CAGR over the same period, to reach 8,600 metric tons in 2026. This marks a decrease from the 77.6% yearly growth seen since 1997. The United Kingdom was the biggest exporter in 2021 at 12,600 metric tons, followed by Canada, the United States and Chile.
