Maltese import of chromium dropped sharply in 2018, down 77.8% from the previous year. Demand for the mineral has decreased by more than half since 2009. Malta ranked 86th in the world for chromium imports in 2018, Sri Lanka overtaking it with 10 kilograms. Germany, the Netherlands and Japan took the top three spots, respectively.
