Hungarian imports of chromium are set to rise slightly over the next five years, according to a new report. The country imported 169,640 kilograms of the metal in 2021, and this figure is expected to reach 185,390 kilograms by 2026. On an annual basis, imports have declined by 1.5% since 1997. In 2021, Hungary ranked 26th in the world in terms of chromium imports, behind the Philippines. Germany, the Netherlands, and Japan were the top three importers. Exports of chromium from Hungary dropped dramatically in 2018, with just 45 kilograms shipped out of the country. This was a decrease of 96.4% from 1,230 kilograms in 2017. Since 1997, exports have decreased by 20.3%. In 2018, Hungary ranked 49th in the world in terms of chromium exports, with Mexico leading the way. Poland, France, and the UK occupied the top three spots.
