Ugandan imports of cigars dropped 68.6% in 2021, falling to 48,300 kilograms from 153,990 kilograms in 2020. This was the lowest level since 1999, when the country reported a 19.7% year-on-year decline. Exports of cigars from Uganda are expected to reach 1,929,000 kilograms by 2026, up from 1,434,400 kilograms in 2021. This represents an average annual growth of 4.8% since 2007, when the country reported an increase of 436.7%. In 2021, Uganda ranked ninth in the world, with Hungary topping the list at 1,434,400 kilograms, followed by Myanmar, Nicaragua and Germany.
