Japanese cigar imports are set to reach 2.3 million kilograms by 2026, up from 1.7 million kilograms in 2021. This marks an average annual growth of 5.2% since 1993, when imports jumped 62.8%. Exports of Japanese cigars, however, dropped by 91.6% in 2019 to 43 kilograms, down from 511 kilograms in 2018. Japan was ranked 87th in 2019, behind Madagascar at 43 kilograms, Myanmar, Nicaragua and Germany at 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
