Romanians are set to import 522,000 kilograms of cigars by 2026, according to recent estimates. In 2021, the figure stands at 405,470 kilograms - an increase of 4.3% from the previous year. Demand for cigars in Romania has decreased by 4.2% annually since 1996. In 2018, the country exported 559 kilograms of cigars, a decrease of 16.8% compared to 2017 when 671.95 kilograms were exported. Since 2008, the supply has increased by 19.4% annually. In 2018, Romania was the 72nd biggest exporter of cigars, behind Luxembourg which exported 559 kilograms. Myanmar, Nicaragua and Germany were the second, third and fourth biggest exporters respectively.
