Japanese consumption of butter is predicted to reach 77,000 metric tons by 2026, a 0.3% year-on-year increase since 2021, when the country consumed 76,000 metric tons. This figure has dropped by 0.4% annually since 2017. Japan was the fifteenth largest butter consumer in 2021, with the Netherlands coming in first, consuming 76,000 metric tons. Germany, France and Russia came in second, third and fourth, respectively. Production of butter in Japan is expected to reach 52,000 metric tons by 2026, a 1.5% year-on-year decrease from 2021, when it was at 57,000 metric tons. Since 1966, the country's supply has decreased by 3% year on year. Japan was the twenty-second largest butter producer in 2021, with Denmark overtaking with 57,000 metric tons. New Zealand, Germany and France were ranked second, third and fourth, respectively.
