Pig production in Colombia is set to decline slightly in the coming years. In 2021, the total number of pigs produced is estimated at 1.1 million heads. This figure is expected to dip to 1.09 million heads by 2026, a decrease of 0.3% year on year. Since 1966, pig production has fallen by an average of 2.4% year on year. Meanwhile, pork consumption in Colombia is expected to increase in the coming years. In 2021, the estimated total for pork consumption is 496 thousand metric tons. This is set to grow to 547 thousand metric tons by 2026, representing an average rise of 1.6% year on year. Since 2017, pork demand has soared by 1.9% year on year. Colombia was the 27th largest pork consumer in 2021, while the Czech Republic was the largest with 496 thousand metric tons. The United States, Russia and Vietnam were the second, third and fourth largest consumers, respectively.
