Global pig production is forecast to reach 207 million heads by 2026, down from 215 million heads in 2021. This represents an average annual decrease of 0.7% since 1966. Meanwhile, global pork consumption is set to rise to 120 million metric tons by 2026, up from 117 million in 2021. This is a 0.4% annual growth rate since 2017. China remains the top pork consumer in the world with 56.5 million metric tons in 2021. The United States, Russia, and Vietnam follow, respectively. The Republic of the Congo saw a 44.2% year-on-year increase in pork consumption since 2017, while Turkmenistan saw a 20.6% decrease.
