Pork production in Nicaragua is expected to increase slightly in the next five years. According to figures, the number of pigs is projected to reach 134,250 by 2026, up 0.2% from 2021. Since 1966, however, the country’s supply has decreased by 2.9% per year. Nicaraguan pork consumption is also predicted to rise, reaching 38.8 thousand metric tons by 2026. This represents an average growth of 1.7% per year since 2017. Nicaragua ranked 79th in 2021, behind Haiti at 35 thousand metric tons. The United States, Russia and Vietnam were the top three countries in the ranking.
