Key Market Indicators
Gabon is set to see a slight rise in pig production over the next five years. It is expected to increase by 0.3% year on year from the 2021 level of 44,890 heads to 45,630 heads in 2026. This trend follows the steady growth seen since 1966, when production stood at 0.2%. At the same time, Gabon's pork consumption is projected to drop slightly in the same period. It is expected to decrease from 13 thousand metric tons in 2021 to 12.55 thousand metric tons in 2026, representing a 0.6% year-on-year decrease. This follows the steady demand seen since 2017. In 2021, Gabon ranked 100th in pork consumption, with the Central African Republic coming in first with 13 thousand metric tons. The United States, Russia, and Vietnam came in second, third and fourth respectively.
