Slovakia's pig production is set to decline over the next five years. By 2026, the number of heads is expected to reach 97,360, a drop of 5.1% from the 2021 figure of 131,700. Since 1998, Slovak production has decreased at an average rate of 3.6% per year. Meanwhile, pork consumption in Slovakia is expected to increase over the same period, reaching 221,000 metric tons by 2026. This marks an average annual growth of 1.1% from 206,000 metric tons in 2021. Since 2017, Slovak demand has grown at a rate of 1.9% per year. In 2021, Slovakia was ranked 46th in the world for pork consumption; Finland overtook it with 206,000 metric tons. The United States, Russia and Vietnam were the second, third and fourth largest consumers, respectively.
