Kenya's consumption of sugarcane is expected to reach 800,000 metric tons by 2026, down slightly from 822,000 metric tons in 2021. This marks a 2.8% increase from 2017. Vietnam overtook Kenya in 2021, with 822,000 metric tons. Brazil, Thailand and Egypt came in second, third and fourth, respectively. Meanwhile, Kenyan production of sugarcane is projected to reach 4.2 million metric tons by 2026, down from 4.6 million metric tons in 2021. This marks a decrease of 8.1% since 1966. Uganda surpassed Kenya in 2021, with 4.6 million metric tons. India, Thailand and China were ranked second, third and fourth, respectively.
