Mexican consumption of olive oil is expected to reach nearly 18 thousand metric tons by 2026, according to an analysis from 2021. There has been no change in demand since 2017. Mexico ranked 21st in the analysis, with Lebanon taking the lead at 17 thousand metric tons. Spain, the US, and Greece came in second, third and fourth, respectively. Meanwhile, Mexican olive oil production is projected to drop 10% year-on-year over the same time period, from 95 metric tons in 2021 to 52.2 metric tons by 2026. Since 1966, production has decreased by 4.2% annually. Mexico ranked 29th in the analysis, with Uruguay coming in first at 95 metric tons. Greece, Italy and Tunisia placed second, third and fourth, respectively.
