Global olive oil production is set to reach nearly 4 million metric tons by 2026, up 1.2% annually on average since 1966. Spain topped the ranking in 2021 with nearly 1.8 million metric tons, followed by Greece, Italy and Tunisia. Slovenia saw the biggest jump at 18%, while Lebanon had the biggest drop of 37.1% since 1966. Global demand for olive oil is expected to stay steady at 2.9 million metric tons in 2026. Italy was number one in consumption in 2021 with 551 thousand metric tons, followed by Spain, the US and Greece. India posted the biggest increase at 2.7%, while Ukraine saw the biggest decrease of 20.6% since 2017.
