Lebanon is set to consume more olive oil in the coming years. By 2026, consumption is predicted to reach 17.8 thousand metric tons, a 0.9% year-on-year growth since 2017. In 2021, Lebanon ranked 21st in the world, slightly behind Jordan at 17 thousand metric tons. Spain, the US, and Greece made up the top three. The outlook for Lebanon’s olive oil production is less optimistic. By 2026, output is expected to fall to 53,680 metric tons, a 1.9% year-on-year decline since 1966. In 2021, Lebanon came in 9th in the world, slightly behind Algeria at 60,040 metric tons. Greece, Italy, and Tunisia were the top three.
