Japan’s exports of oysters nearly halved in 2021, down 43.4% from the previous year to about 45,000 kilograms. This is the lowest figure since 1993, when exports fell by 41.9%. On the other hand, imports of oysters increased 21.9% in 2019, to around 337,000 kilograms. Despite this, the demand for oysters in Japan has decreased 41% since 1993.
