Sudan is projected to become the 86th largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world by 2026. This is according to data from the International Energy Agency, which shows that the country's emissions will reach around 22 million metric tons that year, up from 20 million metric tons in 2021. Since 1976, Sudan's emissions have grown by an average of 0.8% each year. In 2021, it was outranked by Ghana, which emitted 19.7 million metric tons. The United States, India and Russia were ranked as the second, third and fourth largest emitters, respectively.
