Global greenhouse gas emissions are projected to decline to 2,960 million metric tons by 2028, down from 3,060 million metric tons in 2023. This represents a year-on-year decrease of 0.4%. Since 2019, the global demand for greenhouse gas emissions has seen a slight annual decline of 0.5%. Japan currently leads the world in emissions with 1,030 million metric tons recorded in 2023. Trailing Japan, Malaysia, Poland, and Kazakhstan hold the second, third, and fourth positions respectively in global greenhouse gas emissions rankings. Notably, Kenya's emissions have surged by 7.3% year-on-year, contrasting sharply with Estonia, which has experienced a 7.8% annual decline since 2019.
