Greenhouse gas emissions in Libya are projected to increase slightly over the next five years. The country is projected to reach 47.51 million metric tons by 2026. This represents a 0.3% year-on-year increase since 1976. Libya ranked 56th out of the countries studied in 2021 in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, with Greece coming in ahead at 46.55 million metric tons. The United States, India and Russia follow with the second, third and fourth highest emissions, respectively.
