Bulgarian greenhouse gas emissions are projected to decline to 31 million metric tons by 2028, down from approximately 32 million metric tons in 2023. This represents an average annual decrease of 0.7%. Historically, Bulgaria has seen a steady reduction in emissions, averaging a 4% year-on-year decline since 1976. In the current year, Bulgaria ranks 17th globally in greenhouse gas emissions. Azerbaijan slightly surpasses Bulgaria with emissions also at around 32 million metric tons. Leading the list are Malaysia, Poland, and Kazakhstan, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
