Venezuela's greenhouse gas emissions are set to fall by 3.7% per year on average, from 89 million metric tons in 2021 to 71 million metric tons by 2026. This follows a 7.1% decrease since 1976. In 2021, Venezuela was the 40th highest emitter of greenhouse gases, behind Nigeria. The United States, India and Russia were the biggest emitters, in that order.
