As of 2023, the country ranks 9th globally in greenhouse gas emissions. The Netherlands holds the 8th spot with emissions also at around 95 million metric tons. Other countries ahead in the rankings include Malaysia, Poland, and Kazakhstan, occupying the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th positions respectively.
