Since 1976, Iraqi emissions have surged by an average of 3.5% each year. In 2023, Iraq ranked seventh globally in terms of greenhouse gas emissions. Argentina narrowly edged out Iraq with emissions also around 150 million metric tons. Malaysia, Poland, and Kazakhstan took the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively, in the global rankings for greenhouse gas emissions.
