In 2021, the country was the fifth largest producer of citrus fruit, with 6.2 million metric tons. Mexico overtook Spain, with Brazil, India, and Mexico taking the second, third, and fourth spots in the rankings, respectively. Since 1966, Spanish citrus production has declined by 2.5% annually.
