According to recent forecasts, the number of departures is expected to climb to approximately 12,830 by 2028, up from around 12,370 in 2023. This reflects an average annual growth rate of 0.6%. Historically, Mozambican demand for air transport has shown more robust expansion, averaging a 3.4% increase per year since 1980. Despite the slower projected growth, the country's air transport sector remains a vital component of its connectivity and economic development. In the global rankings for 2023, Mozambique placed 103rd, with Libya narrowly ahead, also recording around 12,370 departures. Leading the list, China secured the top spot, followed by India and Canada in second and third place, respectively.
